A fitness influencer has gone viral after sharing an unusual experience during a gym class that left her both surprised and embarrassed.

Sarah Lloyd, a 25-year-old fitness enthusiast and model, said she nearly experienced what experts call a “coregasm” while taking part in a Pilates workout. The incident happened while she was performing leg raises, an exercise that heavily engages the abdominal muscles. (New York Post)

According to Lloyd, she suddenly felt an intense sensation building while completing the exercise and realized something unusual was happening. She stopped the movement midway through the set to avoid what she believed could have turned into a full orgasm.

The experience caught her off guard, particularly because she is used to intense workouts and regularly trains at the gym.

“I noticed the sensation building and panicked,” she explained when describing the moment. After the class, Lloyd said she decided to avoid certain core exercises in group workouts to prevent the situation from happening again.

What is a “coregasm”?

Health experts say the phenomenon is real and is known scientifically as an exercise-induced orgasm (EIO). It happens when certain physical movements trigger muscle contractions that stimulate the pelvic floor and surrounding nerves. (Healthline)

Core-focused exercises—such as crunches, leg lifts, planks, and squats—are among the most common triggers because they strongly engage the abdominal muscles. (Medical Xpress)

Unlike traditional orgasms, these episodes usually occur without sexual thoughts or stimulation. Instead, they are believed to be a physical reaction to muscle fatigue, breathing patterns, and pressure in the abdomen during intense exercise. (Healthline)

How common is it?

Researchers say the experience is uncommon but not extremely rare. Studies suggest that around 9–10% of people have experienced some form of exercise-induced orgasm at least once in their lives. (Natural Cycles)

While the sensation can feel similar to a typical orgasm, many people describe it as milder and shorter in duration.

Adjusting workouts

Lloyd said she now modifies her workouts to avoid the movements that triggered the sensation. In group classes, she simply skips exercises like leg raises if they appear in the routine.

Despite the initial embarrassment, she now looks back at the experience with humor and says it has become an unusual story from her fitness journey.

Experts note that while coregasms can be surprising, they are generally harmless and simply reflect how different muscle groups and nerves interact during intense physical activity.
