The tech giant increases prices across several MacBook models as hardware upgrades and rising component costs push laptop prices higher.
Apple has raised the prices of several MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models as it rolls out updated laptops with improved hardware and larger default storage.
The price increases vary depending on the model, with some laptops costing $100 to $400 more than previous versions.
MacBook Air Prices Increase
Apple’s new 13-inch MacBook Air now starts at $1,099, which is about $100 higher than the earlier starting price of $999.
The larger 15-inch MacBook Air now begins at $1,299, also roughly $100 more than the previous generation.

One reason for the increase is that Apple has upgraded the base storage on these devices. Instead of the earlier 256GB configuration, the new MacBook Air models start with 512GB of storage, giving users more space out of the box.
MacBook Pro Models See Bigger Price Hikes
Some MacBook Pro models have seen larger price increases.
The 14-inch MacBook Pro with Apple’s new M5 Pro chip now starts around $2,199, compared with about $1,999 for the earlier model.
Meanwhile, high-end configurations powered by the M5 Max chip can start at approximately $3,599, representing an increase of around $400.
These Pro models are designed for professional users who need powerful performance for tasks such as video editing, software development, and advanced computing workloads.
Rising Hardware Costs
Industry analysts say the price adjustments are linked to rising global costs for computer components, including memory chips and other key hardware.
At the same time, Apple is introducing more powerful processors and higher default storage, which also contributes to the higher prices.
Expanding the MacBook Lineup
While some premium models are becoming more expensive, Apple is also expanding its laptop lineup with more entry-level options to reach a broader range of customers.
The company recently introduced a lower-cost MacBook model aimed at students and first-time laptop buyers, showing Apple’s strategy of offering both premium and budget devices.
The updated MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models are expected to roll out globally through Apple’s online store and retail locations.
